Introduction

Science and education management and The Center for Science, Technology & Education Assessment (CSTEA) is a school-level research institution in the field of humanities and social sciences of Wuhan University, focusing on science and education policy and development strategy research. The center is positioned as "multi-disciplinary, wide-view, highly-interdisciplinary, and internationalization", and carry out theoretical and applied research focusing on the reform of the scientific and technological system under the new situation and major national strategic needs of "building of a scientific and technological evaluation system with Chinese characteristics", as well as the urgent practical needs of the country's "double first-class" construction. The goal of the center is to gradually develop into a first-class research institution in the field of science and education management and evaluation.

The center relies on the School of Information Management of Wuhan University, with a total of 8 center members, more than 10 full-time researchers, and nearly 30 various part-time researchers. The director of the center is Professor Zhang Lin of Wuhan University. The center has established stable cooperative relations with well-known research institutions and scholars in more than ten countries including the United States, Britain, Germany, France, Belgium, Norway, Spain, Poland, Finland, and Australia. Published a series of high-level academic books and papers in Chinese and English in the fields of scientific and technological information monitoring, subject development evaluation, science and education evaluation policies, and enterprise technological innovation. Some research results and policy recommendations have been adopted and implemented by relevant decision-making departments.

The center aims to build a comprehensive data platform covering academic papers, patent documents, fund projects, higher education information, industrial technology policies, and subject evaluation through international cooperation, supported by scientific and educational data, to comprehensively track major research progress and industrial application in related scientific and technological fields at home and abroad, explore original theories that fit our country's science and technology monitoring and evaluation, promote the effective application of science and technology innovation management and methods, and optimize discipline evaluation to effectively serve the implementation of national and local government science and education evaluation and the formulation of science and education policies.
